Therapists for college students near New York, NY
Are you someone who may be feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from their true potential, and is seeking a path toward healing, self-discovery, and growth? Relationship difficulties, trauma, depression, anxiety, identity or adjusting to change can be barriers to personal growth. In the therapeutic relationship there are ample opportunities to explore experiences, values, and self-awareness through an intersectional lens, leading to meaningful personal insights and positive change. As a holistic clinician with 10 years of experience in the mental health field I utilize person-centered and evidence-based practices as well as expressive arts and mindfulness. I specialize in providing culturally sensitive, LGBTQIA+ affirming care to individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, adjustment, and societal challenges. It is a privilege to create a unique, safe, and supportive space with my clients through trust, empathy, and authenticity. Collaboration with my clients is integral to developing individualized treatment plans tailored to unique needs and goals. Together, we will move forward in healing, empowerment, and emotional wellness.
I work with high-functioning accomplished adults and college students who suffer from anxiety, depression, and trauma-related discomfort. Although my clients have generally achieved success and stability through their careers and academic accomplishments, they have become alienated from their need for connectedness and authentic relationships. This alienation commonly expresses itself as free-floating anxiety, and/or troubling interpersonal relationships (such as unsatisfying romantic relationships, toxic friendships, or workplace conflict). The roots of these experiences are often found in maladaptive coping mechanisms that worked for my clients earlier in life but limit them in the present. I help my clients reflect on their interpersonal relationships, focusing on how clients unconsciously cultivate relationships into re-enactments of painful earlier experiences. I also guide clients through the exploration of their relationships with themselves, identifying negative self-talk and self-sabotaging behaviors that hold them back from achieving their goals and experiencing profound satisfaction. Further, I use my human resources experience to coach patients through workplace conflicts/conflict resolution, communication roadblocks, and time management challenges. Bringing these various elements together, I guide my patients to live a life that is more satisfying and meaningful. I also help clients who have suffered through trauma (including intergenerational trauma) process painful material using EMDR.

As a licensed mental health counselor with more than seven years of experience, my work centers on supporting individuals navigating anxiety, depression, OCD, relationship challenges, adjustment disorders, trauma, and personality disorders. Warmth, integrity, and cultural competence guide everything I do. In our work together, I create space to explore vulnerability, deepen personal understanding, and move toward meaningful change. Discovering your thoughts and feelings in therapy deepens your insight into how you move through the world and who you truly are. Beginning therapy is a significant commitment, and I don't take that lightly. The strength of the patient-therapist relationship is, in my view, the most important factor in your ability to heal and grow. That's why I strive to build authentic rapport that fosters genuine curiosity, safety to make mistakes, shared humanity and humor, and direct but empathic honesty. Creating this environment that feels supportive and non-judgmental is always my first priority. There is never a challenge too small or too large to address in therapy, and I believe it can be a profound healing experience when you have a trusted therapist you can rely on. There is real value in reflecting on your past experiences to understand how your foundation has shaped you. Our early relational experiences significantly impact attachment styles, and in the present, we often seek out situations that feel familiar even when they no longer serve us. Through this process of exploration, we work together to transform unconscious habits into conscious choices. Central to that work is how you view yourself. Building an empathetic inner world, where self-compassion rewires how your brain responds to stress, is an essential part of the therapeutic process. That clearer view of yourself improves the quality of your choices, ensures your decisions align with your core values, and helps you recognize and overcome fears, dismantle implicit cycles, manage insecurity, and strengthen your communication. This kind of self-awareness becomes especially important during life's transitional moments, when developing healthy cognitions and habits provides a framework for emotional stability and long-term resilience. Together, we can identify maladaptive thought patterns, explore cognitive reframing, and practice reduced reactivity to manage stress and build emotional regulation over time. Throughout all of it, you remain the true expert on yourself. The goal is always a collaborative partnership, one where the safety of a strong therapeutic alliance gives you the freedom to grow toward your most personal goals. My role as a helper and listener began as the oldest sister in my family and grew through many meaningful professional experiences. Before becoming a therapist, I offered career counseling to adults with disabilities, helping them develop self-advocacy skills, build independence, and practice radical acceptance. I also supported college students as they navigated the unique pressures of campus life and the challenges of emerging adulthood, exploring together questions of identity, relationships, and purpose. These experiences deepened my commitment to becoming a therapist. Over the years, I've developed a clinical identity grounded in continuous learning. Every session offers fresh perspective and a deeper understanding of the human experience. My approach is tailored to each person's unique needs, and I am committed to evolving alongside my patients by incorporating creative modalities and evidence-based treatments. In my free time, I enjoy spending time in nature, watching movies, being creative, and exploring new museums and restaurants around the city.

I enjoy working with college students. It is so much wiser to try and get hold of whatever issues you are struggling with earlier in life, rather than later, as problems can repeat themselves and really become entrenched, causing you pain and needless suffering. In addition, opening yourself to another person and focusing on what hurts often takes courage. My college age patients are often dealing with relationship changes, a changing sense of personal identity (sexual or in terms of sense of who I am or who I am becoming), concerns about study pressures or dynamics within friend groups or the dorm. Issues with your family at home can also be bothering you. Whatever your needs, I am comfortable defining exactly what they are, working with you to figure out what you need, and doing my best to get you on your way feeling that you've been helped and you possess the tools to keep going with confidence.

College, graduate school, and early adulthood can be exciting, but they can also feel overwhelming. You may be struggling with stress, anxiety, low mood, loneliness, relationship challenges, questions about your identity, or the pressure to keep up academically while managing everything else in your life. For some students, adjusting to life away from home, navigating independence, or recovering from difficult experiences such as trauma, sexual assault, or substance use concerns can make this time especially challenging. At Modern Talk, we specialize in working with college students, graduate students, and emerging adults. Our clinicians understand the unique demands of this stage of life and have extensive experience helping students navigate both everyday stressors and more complex emotional challenges. Several members of our team have worked within university counseling settings, including New York University's Wellness Exchange, supporting students through academic, social, and personal transitions. Whether you're looking for support during a difficult period, trying to better understand yourself, or hoping to build healthier coping skills and relationships, we're here to help. We provide a warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental space where you can talk openly, gain insight, and develop tools to navigate challenges with greater confidence and resilience.
Welcome! I’m glad you’re here, ready to embark upon the path toward a better tomorrow. Do you feel stuck or overwhelmed on that path now? Are you are navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, grief, or major life transitions? You are not alone. I am a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner providing personalized mental health care for adolescents and adults. Together, we work to quiet the noise of these symptoms so you can refocus on what matters most to you. I look forward to helping you feel more empowered and connected to your life as we work toward meaningful and lasting change. My approach is grounded and collaborative, integrating medication management with supportive therapy, tailoring treatment to your unique needs and goals. I see medication as one of many possible tools that may be valuable for some, but not necessary for everyone. When used mindfully, it can help ease barriers and allow therapy to unfold more fully. No matter the therapeutic approach, I believe you are the expert of your own lived experience; my role is to walk alongside you with curiosity and compassion. Whether we are exploring your story through talk therapy, considering medication options, or both, my priority is to create a space where you feel safe, heard, and understood. Drawing on my background in neuroscience and psychology, I am dedicated to caring for the whole person rather than just a diagnosis. This foundation guides my commitment to showing up with a presence that is as evidence-based as it is human. Outside of the office, I find my own balance through reading, skiing, cooking, and spending quality time with my friends and family.
