I am a licensed therapist with a twenty-four year experience working with adult individuals with a vast of life challenges to assist them in developing adaptive coping mechanisms and strategies to deal with their individual challenges. I am compassionate and truly enjoy what I do. I will be honored to form a working alliance with you and be able to allow you to be who you are in a nonjudgmental manner that fosters a sense of quality of life and overall well-being. My style or approach to therapy is what I call a “pot” as I borrow from various evidenced-based models, theories and interventions to create a unique working plan for everyone I work with. I do, however, draw heavily from the Strength Perspective, Client Center, Motivational Interviewing, Psycho- dynamic, Solution Focused and Cognitive Behavior Therapy to name a few. I expect my clients to take away from sessions with me is an enhanced knowledge of their strengths and meaningful ways to address their challenges. We will work together always respecting their autonomy and uniqueness as a person. In addition, I expect my clients to highlight their sense of self-worth, self-value, self-respect as a pathway to improve better outcomes from therapy.

I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with expertise in treating trauma, anxiety, substance use problems, and insomnia. I also work with people experiencing life transitions, academic stress, grief, relationship difficulties, and health-related stress. I love working with students and young adults. I have extensive experience working with individuals of diverse cultural, racial, gender, and sexual identities, and I am committed to providing affirming, anti-oppressive care for all clients. No two individuals are the same, so I work with each client to understand their goals and needs for treatment. I provide cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) with integration of other evidence-based methods, such as mindfulness, values, and emotion-focused work. If appropriate to your needs, I can offer specialized types of therapy, including Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD, Prolonged Exposure for PTSD, CBT for Insomnia, CBT for Substance Use Disorders, and exposure therapy for anxiety disorders. I approach therapy with compassion, authenticity, and (when appropriate) a sense of humor. I see therapy as a collaborative relationship, rather than one of passive listening. If my approach sounds like a good match for you, let’s talk!

I tend to work best with college students and young adults who look “high-functioning” on the outside but feel overwhelmed on the inside. Many of the students I see are smart, reflective, and trying hard — yet struggling with anxiety, mood swings, burnout, panic, or a constant feeling of pressure to perform or hold everything together. You might feel stuck between who you were expected to be and who you’re becoming. You may overthink conversations, feel emotionally exhausted, struggle with motivation, or feel disconnected from yourself or others. Some students I work with have experienced past stress or trauma that still shows up in their body — through anxiety, sleep issues, emotional shutdown, or feeling on edge — even if “nothing bad” seems to be happening now. In therapy, we move at your pace. You don’t need to have the right words or a clear goal right away. My approach is supportive, curious, and collaborative — focused on helping you understand what’s happening beneath the surface and develop tools that actually feel usable in real life. Therapy with me is a space to slow down, feel less alone, and build steadiness during a demanding and uncertain chapter of life. I will be getting credentialed with additional insurances and accepting private pay-please feel free to check back or reach out if you have any additional questions or concerns.

Life can throw a lot at us. You may need a space where you can lay it all out without worrying about being judged. I provide a space where you can talk/vent about stuff like depression, grief, family stress, identity issues, the everyday frustrations, and even the messy in between. Nothing is too big or small to discuss. I work with people going through life transitions, relationships challenges, the ups and downs that come with being LGBTQ+, bicultural, or even navigating racial identity. I know how important it is to feel seen and understood. I make it a priority to create space to let it all out and do not hold anything back. Therapy with me is about honesty, connection, and real talk. In our sessions we will learn to process deeply, and move forward with clarity and purpose. We will figure things out together, at your pace, you can reset, find renewal, feel empowered and more in control of you.

As a young adult, holding your own emotional space—especially with family—is a powerful way to support your mental health. Your 20s and 30s are a time where you might find yourself getting into a serious relationship, welcoming a child into the world, or coping with the death of a loved one. These transitions often come with shifting family roles and expectations, which can make it difficult to maintain healthy boundaries with the people closest to you. That’s where I come in. As a therapist, I can help you to clarify, set, and navigate boundaries that support your personal growth, values, and the connections you have with others as well as navigate and identify strategies to cope with anxiety that comes up naturally during any transitional period in life. During our time together, we’ll identify the boundaries most important to you. We’ll also process feelings like guilt or shame that might come up around setting them and create strategies for communicating your needs effectively. My holistic, collaborative approach puts you in the driver's seat of your own treatment. Mental health isn’t a one-size-fits-all, so I provide personalized care that centers your unique needs and sense of agency. Going to therapy is vulnerable and brave, and I’m here to support you with whatever comes up in our space together.

Hello! I’m Sakena, and I’m a Master’s student in the Social Work Program at Binghamton University. I aim to create a safe space for clients to comfortably navigate through any difficulties. I understand everyone is different, and with that, I make sure my approaches are in each client’s best interest. When working with clients, I use approaches such as active listening, skill building, and mindfulness to help clients through the difficult experiences they’re facing. These skills come from a holistic approach that is person-centered and follows CBT and SFBT. My goal as your therapist is to help you reach your goals. I believe this journey is a collaborative process, and you can progress through it at your own pace. I hope to help clients explore how past experiences have shaped their current emotions and way of life. So together, we can highlight your strengths and aim for clarity and balance. For oppressed people to intentionally cultivate pleasure is an act of resistance - Ingrid LaFleur. I specialize in providing culturally sensitive, trauma-informed, poly & kink-friendly, and queer-affirming therapy. My journey as a queer, non-monogamous South Asian neurodivergent woman, along with the experiences of those close to me, deeply shape my approach. I draw on my first-hand knowledge of navigating kink/sex-positive environments. It's important to me to approach therapy with a sense of curiosity and openness so that I can better understand and support my clients. I view each individual within the context of their environment, recognizing the complex intersections of their various identities. I rely on evidenced-based methods that consider the impact of trauma and are attuned to diverse cultural perspectives. In my sessions, I strive to create a safe space for clients to rehearse for life outside of therapy. Building an authentic relationship with my clients is my highest priority. Jiddu Krishnamurti said that it is no measure of health to be adjusted to a society that is profoundly sick and I do not see therapy as a way to numb the pain that is caused by systemic oppression but rather a way to empower clients to have compassion for themselves.

I'M A FIRM BELIEVER in the health of one's mind being a crucial factor in their ability to meet the demands of everyday life. It becomes a harder task to address stressful situations if you're already not feeling well. Think about moments when you might not have been able to focus at work, successfully study for an exam, or even effectively communicate your concerns to others due to how you felt mentally and physically. MY WORK AS A THERAPIST ENTAILS consistent problem-solving, reasoning, exploring, investigating, learning, and healing. I provide compassionate, supportive, encouraging, and challenging therapy that facilitates and promotes growth for people who seek to improve the quality of their lives. Reflecting on one's actions, highlighting the importance of self-awareness, and offering advisement on ways to improve the overall health of one's lifestyle are a few ways by which I aid individuals in achieving an enhanced experience of life. THROUGH THESE MEANS, the ability to focus at work becomes a bit easier, studying for an exam is not such a harrowing feat and effectively expressing your needs feels like more of a natural practice. All the while, paying special attention to your improved health both mentally and physically.
